Petra Pferdmenges

Dr. Petra Pferdmenges researches through practice into how to expand the discipline of architecture from built space to Lived Space. She founded Alive Architecture through a PhD at RMIT Barcelona in 2015 for which she gained recognition of outstanding work. Today the practice counts several experts from multiple disciplines, reaching from social engagement, spatial design to urban architecture. Through their collective intelligence they explore means of inclusive city making, empowering the local to co-design, co-construct and co-maintain the public realm. For the case study Parckfarm Alive Architecture received international recognition. Since 2010 Petra teaches at KU Leuven and built up a portfolio of international teaching experience, including the design studio ‘Campus City Hanoi’ in Hanoi, Vietnam and ‘Suburban Diaries’ in Melbourne, Australia.
