Reflect on our project!The purpose of this call is to reflect on the following aspects of the A-Place project processes and outcomes. We are looking for two authors to contribute with an essay (from 6,000 to 10,000 words, plus references) to be included in the A-Place book which will summarize the work done in the project and will frame the results in the wider context of creative placemaking.

We are happy to announce the results of the fourth “A-PLACE – Video Production Open Call”, in its 2023 edition.

We received 103 project proposals, with applications coming from 15 European countries. The projects submitted have revealed a wide variety of approaches to building and engaging communities in art-based placemaking processes. The quantity and quality of the proposals have led the jury to an exciting and complex deliberation process. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a proposal for their interest and efforts. Finally, the jury decided to assign the award to the project entitled:
“We are Here” by Camila Flores Fernández.

The fourth edition of the A-Place open call for video productions to investigate the process of creating a sense of place is now open. Deadline for submissions ends February, 28th, 2023.

We are happy to announce the screening of the A-Place Video Production 2022.

On the 29th of September at 6pm, we invite you to take a soundwalk through Bairro do Rego, accompanied by the young people who participated in the creation of the sound pieces, where we can share experiences and “listen” to the places in the neighbourhood.

“URBAN VISIONS. Beyond the Ideal City” is an independent film festival promoted by City Space Architecture.

“URBAN VISIONS. Beyond the Ideal City” is part of A-Place, whose competition includes:
- A-Place / Migrants, refugees and displaces communities, investigating the living conditions of migrants, refugees and displaced communities in cities, in Italy and elsewhere.
- A-Place / Resilient Communities, investigating the work of self-organized communities through creative and multidisciplinary placemaking initiatives.

We are happy to announce the winners of the A-Place: Mapping Contest “Share your experiences of domestic places” 2022. 

In this workshop we will showcase the strategies we are developing to engage people around the world in a reflection about the sense of place, present the tools we are using and reflect on the ways in which this ongoing work can lead to the consolidation of a network of places and placemakers.

A Reconnecting Place (Lisbon) will be present at the New European Bauhaus Festival, presenting a two-part workshop by Marta Fiolić and João Ferreira, and exhibiting the work in progress on their artistic project in Bairro do Rego neighborhood in Lisbon.

The theme of this second edition is domestic places, your experiences with them. We invite you to share your experiences of the places where you live by means of a photograph and descriptive text.

We are happy to announce the results of the third “A-PLACE – Video Production Open Call”, in its 2022 edition.

Finally, the jury decided to assign the award to the project entitled:
“The Place I Inhabit” by SINDIHOGAR collective.

On March 24, 2022, on the occasion of the World Water Day,  Sitesize is organising a round table at the Auditorium of the Bellvitge Cultural Centre to discuss ways of convergence of scientific knowledge, community action and cultural creation.   

The paper "An Empty Space, A Virtual Place" presented to the AMPS Conference  "Cities in a Changing World" is now published and available in the proeceedings of the conference.

NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nova University Lisbon, the Nova Institute of Philosophy, AMIGLuz Association, and the A-PLACE Project announce a Soiree to present the winners of the contest “My Neighbourhood... my Place”. The program takes place on Saturday, 25th September 2021, at 5 pm, at Largo da Associação Bairro Padre Cruz (Rua Rio Zêzere, Nº 3), in Lisbon, and will include moments of poetry and memories of the neighbourhood. The special guest is the young fado singer Martim Saragasso D'Aires.

On May 21st, at the opening of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia, the Cyprus Pavilion hosted the latest project of Urban Gorillas “ASeedlingPlace” under their project: "Anachoreis: Upon Ihabiting Distances".

ASeedlingPlace is an open process in constant progress, where visitors are invited to participate by planting seeds, transfering cuttings, tending and growing new plants in a collective garden. The structure acts as a scaffolding, a facilitator for co-creation while also extending its physicality by providing seeds and inviting the visitors to plant elsewhere, expanding it in both space and time.

63 entries from professional artists from 17 European countries were submitted to the second “A-PLACE – Video Production Open Call”, in its 2021 edition. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a proposal for their interest and efforts.
