The Italian artist Yari Miele created a site-specific installation at City Space Architecture headquarters and the biodiversity public garden for the Art City White Night of Arte Fiera. This international art fair takes place in Bologna every year. The site-specific installation remained in place for only a few hours on February 4, 2023, and it was curated by Marcello Tedesco.

Yari Miele’s research is based on subtle relational links between physical and mental forces, working towards the creation of a new way of thinking and feeling about the city and its spaces. This approach is steered by principles of democracy and inclusivity. Places are conceived to be both physical and mental, designed for the community and its needs. This design aims to encourage and promote relational exchange and dialogue through proximity infrastructures envisioned by artists and professionals. In this way, art ceases to be a niche phenomenon for the elite and embraces the complexity of public life and the city, creating an unprecedented osmosis.

Light serves as both the medium and the theme through which Yari Miele orchestrates a complex and captivating interplay of relationships among the work, the environment and the public space. Leveraging reflective fabrics, phosphorescence and fluorescence phenomena, Miele renders visible and tangible the beauty of a world in which all forces are in perfect balance within an incessant and harmonious dynamic. The sculpture in the biodiversity public garden encapsulates the artist’s tendency to involve the observer in the creative process, exponentially amplifying the relationship between the artwork and the environment. Suspended between two imposing fir trees, a two-metre-long volume, crafted from aluminium and adorned with a special reflective fabric, comes to life as the public activates it with the torches of their mobile phones.

For just few hours, the public garden was aglow with light, drawing numerous residents, including families with children, and visitors from Arte Fiera. A video reportage of the event was created, documenting the overall engagement at both the City Space Architecture headquarters and the public garden during the Art City White Night.
