Storytelling

In the fourth year, City Space Architecture successfully engaged residents, community members of different ages, cultural backgrounds, and interests, alongside researchers, scholars, local and regional stakeholders, as well as artists and curators, through the activities of “A Resilient Place”. The goal of promoting innovation in knowledge and thinking on urban nature and climate activism  was achieved through the involvement of artists and site-specific installations.

Since July 2023, numerous residents and visitors have expressed great appreciation, thanking us for the renovation and ongoing management. They have also posed questions and shown a willingness to help and support the initiative, with some even offering financial contributions.  This is particularly important as the garden is not supplied with public water, and City Space Architecture is covering the cost of refilling the water tank in the garden through payments to the gardening company responsible for implementing the green infrastructure.

Residents are also expressing concerns about the future of the garden once the cooperation pact with the municipality expires in September 2024. There is a fear that the space could revert to its previous neglected state. This presents a current challenge that City Space Architecture has already begun discussing with the municipality, negotiating conditions for an extension of the pact, which would ideally include financial support.

"A Resilient Place” exemplifies how what started as a placemaking intervention to revitalize a derelict space can have a lasting impact. It not only elevates the expectations of local residents but also enhances their eagerness to reclaim the public realm. This process contributes to shaping a sense of ownership and belonging.
