ASeedlingPlace exhibited at the Venice Biennale of Architecture
On May 21st, at the opening of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia, the Cyprus Pavilion hosted the latest project of Urban Gorillas “ASeedlingPlace”.
ASeedlingPlace is inspired by a project which was realized in September 2020 in Kaimakli, Nicosia, where an installation acted as a trigger for a socially diverse neighbourhood to reimagine their public spaces, starting from the simple act of planting and tending a garden.
ASeedlingPlace is an open process in constant progress, where visitors are invited to participate by planting seeds, transfering cuttings, tending and growing new plants in a collective garden. The structure acts as a scaffolding, a facilitator for co-creation while also extending its physicality by providing seeds and inviting the visitors to plant elsewhere, expanding it in both space and time.
Seedling place is part of the A-Place project that is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme (2019-2023) and the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth.
